Fiberglass Insulation
The fiberglass insulation typically stuffed between the floor joists absorbs the excess moisture in the space. As it becomes wet the insulation loses its effectiveness, begins to deteriorate, becomes heavier, and falls away from the floors.
Crawl Space Vapor Barrier
At construction, a 6-mil vapor barrier is installed in the crawl space. most of this crawl space is lined with a 6-mil, however, it is usually just laid out over the ground, unsealed, and with gaps around piers, at seams, and at the walls. In some cases, "U" shaped stakes are poked through the liner to help "hold" it in place.
Mold & Mildew in Crawl Space
Microbial growth occurs on organic materials within the crawl space when there are warm temperatures and humidity rises.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
A 20-mil CleanSpace Vapor barrier is installed on the crawl space floor. It is overlapped and sealed at all seams, wrapped and sealed around all piers, and attached to the foundation walls. This seals the crawl space off from the earth's moisture.
Spray Foam Insulation
Closed Cell Spray Foam is applied to the foundation walls and a viewing strip is left at the top of the foundation wall, per code, for termite inspections. This brings the crawl space into the building envelope.
Insulated Interior Crawl Space Door
This is our Friction Fit Crawl Space Door. It's an interior crawl space door that is custom fit and provides air sealing and insulation behind the exterior crawl space door.
Everlast Crawl Space Door
The Everlast Crawl Space door is a PVC door that does not rust, rot, or warp.
Open Crawl Space Vents
Open crawl space vents allow hot, humid outside air to flood in during the summer months. This results in high humidity in the crawl space and moisture buildup. During the winter, the vents allow cold air to rush in and result in cold floors and drafts in the home.
