Preparing to Install Spray Foam Insulation
The silver strip across the top of the foundation walls is what we call the "Ries Piece." It is a solution developed by our production team to ensure we always have a clear viewing strip when applying spray foam insulation to the crawl space walls, for pest control companies per VA building code.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier seals your home from the earth's moisture. It is run up the walls 6-8 inches above outside grade and wrapped around all piers. In every crawl space, we leave a sticker on the liner letting any service persons who enter know that the CleanSpace is an integral part of the Encapsulation system and you, the homeowner, should be notified if any damage occurs to the vapor barrier.
HVAC in the Crawl Space
In many cases, your vented, unconditioned crawl space is home to HVAC equipment. Duct lines are leaky and typically have gaps or holes, in an unconditioned environment, these gaps and holes allow dust, dirt, and allergens to get into the ductwork and your home. By encapsulating the crawl space you are bringing the ductwork into the conditioned space and reducing the allergens and pollutants getting into the lines, therefore improving your indoor air quality.
