SaniDry Sedona Dehumidification System
The SaniDry Sedona is installed to control the relative humidity in the crawl space.
Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation on Crawl Space Walls
Closed Cell Spray Foam insulation is installed on the crawl space walls leaving a 2" viewing strip, per VA building code, for termite companies to do their inspections.
Friction Fit Door
The Interior Friction Fit Crawl Space Door is the final piece of the puzzle. While we have sealed the crawl space off from the earth and insulated the walls, and sealed the vents, if we didn't seal behind the crawl space door, we would have a HUGE hole in our system. The Friction Fit door was developed by The Drying Co. To address this problem. It both air seals behind the exterior door and satisfies building code, which says we must have a continuous R-10 of insulation on the crawl space walls.
High Relative Humidity
High relative humidity means a build-up of moisture in the crawl space. This is a result of open vents, moisture traveling through the porous block walls and moisture from the earth that can get into the crawl space due to a deteriorating vapor barrier.
Wet and Falling Insulation
As Insulation becomes saturated it holds moisture against the joists the moisture, humidity, and warm temperatures results in mildew mold growth. Over time the wet, heavy insulation falls away from the floors resulting in drafts and cold floors in the winter.
