Ready for Spray Foam Insulation
After the CleanSpace Liner is installed and fastened to the walls, the space is ready for Spray Foam Insulation to be applied. The insulation will leave a 2" viewing strop, per Virginia Building Code for Termite inspection.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier.
The CleanSpace vapor barrier is a 20-mil liner with UltraFresh antimicrobial built into the product. CleanSpace seals the crawl space from the earth's moisture. It is brought up the crawl space walls, 6-8 inches above outside grade and wrapped around all piers. All its seams are overlapped and sealed, and the liner is sealed and fastened to the wall.
Failing Vapor Barrier and Debris in Crawl Space
Many crawl spaces are filled with debris, often from construction. We remove any debris that might damage the CleanSpace vapor barrier, to protect the system we are installing. The old vapor barrier in their photo isn't covering the floor and therefore isn't keeping moisture from entering the crawl space from the ground.
Mold on Crawl Space Joists
Mold needs three things to grow, warm temperatures, high relative humidity, and organic material such as the wood joists in your crawl space or the paper backing on fiberglass insulation.
