Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Installing a WaterGuard Drainage System in Henrico, VA

This homeowner in Henrico, VA, experienced up to three inches of water in his basement during heavy rainstorms. He called The Drying Company, and one of our Home Performance Advisors was sent to inspect the situation. Our advisor noticed that there was water staining along the lower quarter of the basement walls, which indicates that there was indeed standing water in the basement at some point. Once the inspection for over, he wrote a proposal that listed the different services and solutions to help protect the basement from future moisture infiltration, and the installers were then scheduled to complete the project work.   Our installers began by moving the homeowner's belongings out of the basement. Then, they created a trench around the inner perimeter of the basement to accommodate a WaterGuard drainage system. The trench was filled with drainage rock to prevent sediments from entering, and the WaterGuard pieces were assembled and installed within it. Special wall flanges on the WaterGuard system create space between the floor and wall to catch any water seeping through the walls, and to prevent dirt and debris from entering the system.   A large hole was then created along the trench to fit the SuperSump Plus. This sump basin includes a 1/3-horsepower Zoller pump, a CleanPump stand, an airtight lid, and a WaterWatch alarm system. Any water collected within the basement is captured and guided through the WaterGuard system to the SuperSump Plus basin. The water is extracted from the sump pump and transported out of the basement and home via a pipeline.   Finally, the installers test the system to ensure it functions properly. Then, cement is poured over the top of the trench, encasing the drainage system underneath. The drainage system will catch any moisture that enters the basement and guide it out of the home.
