Efflorescence
Efflorescence on the basement walls is an indicator of moisture moving from the earth through the walls and into the basement. The efflorescence is the white powdery substance on the surface, which are minerals pulled to the surface of the block by the moisture and are left behind as the moisture evaporates.
Vapor Barrier
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier is installed on the foundation walls about 6 inches above outside grade. This liner directs moisture moving through the foundation walls down into the drainage system.
Moisture & Humidity
The previous owners of the home have been using a dehumidifier to try and help with the moisture and the humidity in the space. However, we still see clear signs of moisture damage such as staining at the bottom of the framed wall.
Controlling Moisture
The liner on the walls is going to help with the moisture moving through the foundation walls. The Waterguard system, installed along the perimeter of the basement will collect this water and direct it to a sump pump.
Water Infiltration
Along the bottom of the foundation wall water staining and efflorescence show signs of water infiltration.
WaterGuard
WaterGuard is a french drainage system installed around the interior perimeter of the basement. It collects infiltrating water and diverts it to a sump pump.
Basement Grade
This basement isn't entirely below grade and can be accessed from the exterior of the home.
Sump Pump System
A SuperSump Plus system is installed with an UltraSump Battery Backup. The WaterGuard system feed collected water to the system which pumps the water out of the basement and away from the home to a spot on the property designated by the homeowner.
