Moisture Damage
Several items sitting on the basement floor showed water damage just like this bookcase telling us that water is finding its way into the basement.
Open Sump Pit
The homeowner has an existing sump pump in the basement in an open sump pit. Open sump pits allow moisture and odors to rise into the space.
Drainage System
WaterGuard is an interior basement waterproofing solution. It's installed along the perimeter of the basement and new concrete is placed over the system. Clean space, the white at the bottom of the wall, is installed and secured to the wall about 6 inches above outside grade to direct any groundwater seeping through the wall into the WaterGuard system.
Bulk Water Management
A trench Drain is installed inside the exterior basement access as part of the WaterGuard system. This drain has an open grate on top and is designed to collect any bulk water that may enter during a storm around exterior access. It can also be used around hot water heaters when present in case of failure.
Sump Pump System
The open sump pit is replaced with the SuperSump Plus and UltraSump battery backup system. WaterGuard feeds the collected water to the SuperSump to be pumped away from the home and is discharged to a spot on the property designated by the homeowner.
Basement Wall Cracks
Groundwater often enters through wall cracks. staining on the bottom of the wall is also an indicator that water is seeping into the space.
