Keeping a Basement Dry in Saluda, VA
Challenge
Water was entering this basement through the walls. Moisture moves through porous cinderblock walls and infiltrates the basement. This leads to a wet basement that has musty odors, can grow mildew/mold, and damaged stored items. The homeowner wanted to keep the water out and create a dry, clean, usable space.
Solution
The basement was cleaned out of all debris and the old damaged wood paneling was removed. We dug a trench around the perimeter of the basement and installed the WaterGuard Drainage System. This system feeds the water it collects to a sump pump. The CleanSpace vapor barrier is installed on the walls 6-8 inches above outside grade. This directs water entering through the walls down into the WaterGuard System. The SuperSump pumps the infiltrating water out of the basement and away from the home. Together, these three products keep this basement dry all the time and give the homeowner a dry, clean, and usable space.
