Protecting a Henrico, VA Basement from Water

Challenge

This Henrico, VA home had concerns with water entering their basement through the cinderblock walls. At our inspection, we found stains on the walls from water infiltration and efflorescence, the homeowner was finishing the basement and wanted to make sure that it would stay dry all the time.

Solution

We installed the WaterGuard System. This system is a perimeter drain line that is designed not to clog from silt and sediment and feeds to a sump pump. As part of the system, we installed CleanSpace on the basement walls to direct any water entering through the cinderblock down into the WaterGuard System. The system drains to a TripleSafe Sump System which contains three pumps. A 1/3 hp pump that does the work most of the time, a 1/2 hp pump that takes over if the first pump fails or can't keep up, and an UltraSump Battery Back-up which takes over in the event of a power outage. The WaterGuard and TripleSafe systems are designed to protect this basement and keep it dry all the time. And with a WaterWatch alarm on the TripleSafe, the homeowner will be alerted if there is an issue before the pump backs up into the basement.
