Attic Storage Space
The homeowner uses their attic for storage, so they want to keep the storage space but also improve the insulation in the home.
Dirty Insulation
There's little insulation on top of the ceiling and the dirt in the insulation is a clear sign that it's been acting as a filter for the conditioned air escaping from the living space into the unconditioned attic.
Fiberglass Insulation
Fiberglass is most effective when it's enclosed on all 6 sides. In this application, it offers little protection to the living space from the extreme temperatures in the attic.
Pull down Attic Stairs
The Attic access is a major source of conditioned air loss. In the summer you can often feel the heat radiating down from this area and in the winter you may feel cold drafts.
Storage Space
Additional storage decking and foam board insulation are installed over the existing plywood to add additional R-value and maintain the storage space that our homeowner utilizes.
Cellulose Insulation
Supports are installed and cellulose Insulation is blown in on top of the cathedral ceilings
Attic ventilation & Cellulose
Proper Vents (PVs) the grey rectangles between the joists are installed to ensure proper ventilation in the attic and along with blockers keep cellulose from blocking the soffit vents when cellulose insulation is blown in.
David Lewis Pull Down Stair Cover
To insulate and air seal around the attic access, the David Lewis cover is installed. It's lightweight and easy for homeowner to slide aside and back into place when they need to access the space.
