Waterguard XL and Trench
A jackhammer was used to create an interior trench around the basement. We installed a drainage system called WaterGuard XL within the trench, which will catch any water seeping through the porous basement walls and lead it to a sump pump via the WaterGuard XL.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
A heavy-duty 20-mil vapor barrier, called CleanSpace, was installed over the basement walls. This will help to catch any water seeping through the porous walls, as well as protect the rest of the basement from outside moisture infiltration. The liner is placed six to eight inches above outside grade and sealed with vinyl tape.
Drainage Rock
Once the WaterGuard XL and CleanSpace are installed, drainage rock is used to fill the trench around and on top of the WaterGuard XL. This will help to filter the water and keep it from creating a muddy puddle around the drainage system, which would potentially clog it.
SuperSump Plus
We installed our SuperSump Plus in connection with the WaterGuard XL. Water collected by the drainage system will guide it to the sump pump basin, where it is extracted out of the basement. Our SuperSump Plus uses a TripleSafe basin, a 1/3 horsepower cast iron pump, a CleanPump stand, and a WaterWatch alarm system.
Finishing The Job
Once everything was installed, we recemented over the trench and moved any items or furniture back into place. The homeowners will be able to finish their basement over the CleanSpace if they so choose to. With these solutions in place, any moisture that seeps through the foundation walls will be captured and extracted from the basement.
