Uninsulated can light
A can light that is not insulated leaks, on average, 10 cfm (cubic feet per minute) of air, for each recessed can light, into your attic. 1 cubic foot of air is equal to 1 basketball, so imagine 10 basketballs of conditioned air coming out of each can light per minute, escaping into your unconditioned attic.

Air Sealed Can Light
The can light has been covered with a fire retardant cover. Spray foam is then applied around for air sealing.
