Preparing a Deltaville, VA home for sale
Challenge
This Deltaville, VA home was on the market when the seller reached out to us. They needed to have the crawl space fixed up before they could sell. At the inspection, we found that moisture had wreaked havoc on the crawl space. Insulation was falling and the vapor barrier was in disarray.
Typically we would work with the homeowner to develop a solution so they wouldn’t ever have to worry about doing this project again, however, homeowners preparing their home to sell have different goals than comfort in the home they are moving out of.
Solution
In this case, we removed all of the old insulation and vapor barrier from the crawl space as well as any debris. Our team then installed new fiberglass batt insulation between the floor joists and laid a new 6-mil vapor barrier overlapping seams by 12 inches. Because tape does not adhere to the slick surface of a 6-mil we were unable to tape the seams. This home now meets the requirements for sale.
