WaterGuard Drainage System in Quinton, VA Basement
Challenge
This Quinton homeowner was referred to us when they had concerns about waterproofing their basement. During our inspection, we found that there was significant water infiltration and puddling on the basement floor. There was also a Sump Pump Pit that allows water vapor to rise into the space, these pumps often clog and get dirty and can slow down or fail over time. With water collecting on the basement slab, we know that all the water wasn’t draining to the sump pump either.
Solution
To keep this basement dry all the time, our team installed the WaterGuard Drainage System. We trenched around the perimeter of the basement where we would create a drainage plane by installing rock then the WaterGuard Track in the trench. The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier was installed on the basement walls and sealed. This will direct any water that finds its way through the block wall down into the drainage system. We then installed concrete over the WaterGuard system and rock. The WaterGuard system drains to the SmartSump System which contains a 1/3 horsepower pump that removes water from the basement and discharges it to a spot designated by the homeowner on their property. The WaterGuard system will keep the basement dry and even allows the homeowner to turn the basement into a finished space without worrying about damage.
